The 2017 Chablis Vaillons Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru is pretty, gracious and lifted, with a real sense of vertical expansiveness. In this vintage, the Vieilles Vignes is wonderfully lifted in feel. Sweet floral notes, apricot and tropical fruits meld together in a layered, exquisite Chablis that has much to offer.-- Antonio Galloni – Vinous Media
Note: from 70+ year old vines in Châtains with 15% new wood
Tasting note: Aromatically this is similar to the regular cuvée with two exceptions, which are that the mildly exotic aromas are riper and are trimmed in enough wood to merit mentioning. As is always the case there is notably better density to the medium weight plus flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the sappy, notably dry and sneaky long saline-inflected finale. Good stuff here. Allen Meadows - Burghound
