The vines are planted on a small, flat plot of land located at the foot of Le Montrachet, in a small triangular depression.

Blanchots Dessus lies just below Le Montrachet in a hollow that is susceptible to frost in years like 2016, but has produced a delicious Premier Cru in much warmer 2018. Caroline Lestimé's parcel runs to 0.12ha and is a plush, glossy expression of the terroir. Subtle reduction, honey and dried coconut flavours are supported by subtle reduction, some aromatic spices and taut, tapering acidity. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030. Tim Atkin, Decanter

This parcel was classified as a Première Cuvée in 1855. In the 1930s it almost made the status of Grand Cru, and actually the neighboring parcel, Les Criots, was declared Grand Cru on July 31, 1937. Blanchot-Dessus is still considered to be of equal quality to a Grand Cru. This wine produced from less than 1.2 hectares of vines, with small quanties as a result. Only 80 cases are produced each year.

Bottled. Clean pure colour, very fine bouquet, elegance with a bit of power behind. This has terrific weight on the palate and a scintillating lemon mineral thread, with excellent length. Lively dancing wine, a very good result. Tasted: December 2019—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
