Johann Michel Grain Noir 2013 (750ML)

100% Syrah.  Hand harvested and farmed Organically, though not yet certified.  The Syrah comes from the young vines of the Cornas, which is why the Cornas appellation cannot be used. Full destemming, indigenous yeasts, 21 days of vatting with treading then pressing with a low pressure vertical press. No fining. Slight filtration before bottling.

A self-taught winemaker, Johann Michel decided to create the domain in 1997. With 4 and 1/2 ha, they produce in the AOC Saint Péray, AOC Cornas, as well a a confidential cuvée, the "Grain Noir", from Syrah planted in the Cornas AOC but with younger vines than the appellation requires.
