Drouhin's 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Champimonts is very promising, opening in the glass with a lovely bouquet of cherry, raspberry, licorice, rich earth, dried flowers and a light touch of meaty reduction which dissipates with aeration. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, plush and generous, with an ample chassis of velvety tannins, ripe acids and an expansive profile. Deep crimson. Very rich and spicy with lots of fairly dry tannins still in evidence but with lots of potential. A bit of alcohol on the end. Very crunchy indeed and even a tad bitter on the finish.--Jancis Robinson
