A concentrated and very well-structured Beaune that has plenty of positive tannic power. Still quite tightly wound, but there’s excellent fruit and everything fits together very neatly at the long, spicy and earthy finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.—James Suckling
Note: from a .80 ha parcel in the climat of Sur les Grèves
Tasting note: A slightly more complex if less elegant nose presents notes of both various red berries and plenty of floral elements. The delicious, generous and mouthcoating medium-bodied flavors possess focused power on the compact, firmly structured and mildly austere finale. I very much like the texture which should permit this to be enjoyed on the younger side though be aware that there is sufficient underlying material to repay 12 to 15 years of cellaring. Oustanding. Allen Meadows, Burghound
From the upper part, with 30% whole bunch vinification. Bright brisk red purple, with an exuberant fresh fruit, mainly raspberry. Very good intensity on the second half of the palate with a properly rich Grèves-worthy intensity behind. Tasted: December 2020 – Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
The 2019 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet of dark berry fruit, light seaweed and oyster shell scents, and the 30% whole cluster lends a subtle tertiary aspect. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly chalky tannins. This is very well structured, delivering palpable energy. A saline finish gets the saliva flowing. Just a delicious Beaune Grèves. - Neal Martin, VInous Media
Aromas of cassis, plums, orange rind and sweet spices introduce Drouhin's 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves, a medium to full-bodied, bright and lively wine that's perfumed and precise, framed by powdery tannins and lively acids. It's more elegant and refined than its 2018 counterpart.—William Kelley, Inside Burgundy
