The fragrant sour-cherry and floral nose pulls you into this refined and elegant Chambolle-Musigny that has a serious tannin structure, but an excellent, velvety texture, flowing gracefully over the palate. Very long finish with so much energy. A blend of 6 premier cru sites, mostly from estate vineyards. Drink or hold.—James Suckling

There is a forward black cherry aroma, still marked at this point by the cask ageing. The texture is solid and tannic, but the extract and the balance are fine indeed. Frédéric Drouhin calls Chambolle 'our favourite area'. This cuvée is composed of 1.3ha of his personal vines in Les Plantes and Les Combottes, blended with purchased grapes that are picked, crushed and fermented together, then aged in cask (20% new).—Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

Note: typically made from 6 or 7 different 1ers depending on whether the fruit from the parcel of Les Baudes is included
Tasting note: Here too there is just enough wood present to remark upon framing the overtly floral-suffused aromas of spicy and ripe dark berries. There is both excellent drive and delineation to the rich, sappy and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a dusty, balanced and moderately austere finish. Like several wines in the range, this too will need to develop more depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range. Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, smoke and spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and seamless, with powdery tannins, bright acids and a long, saline finish, it's always a fine cuvée chez Drouhin.—William Kelley, The Wine Advcoate

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru, a blend of several parcels, has a tightly-wound bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and a light oyster shell scent. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but quite firm tannins that frame the blackberry and raspberry fruit, saline towards the almost Morey-like finish. Very fine.—Neal Martin, Vinous Media
