A pleasing ruby to crimson colour. Bouncing vigorous energy, especially perfumed in a Chambolle only way, that mix of fruit and flowers which defies specific description. One smell and you fall in love. More structure behind to assure longevity. Lovely. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: November 2023.—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is a blend dominated by Les Plantes and Combottes. Wafting from the glass with scents of raspberries, rose petals, sweet spices and cherries, it's medium to full-bodied, pure and seamless, with a layered core of fruit and a fine-boned, mineral profile.—William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru comes from estate and purchased fruit, five or six different sources blended during vinification, and includes around 35% whole bunches. The bright bouquet offers dark cherries, wild strawberries, and hints of wild heather and sea spray. The medium-bodied palate has pliant tannins, is quite harmonious, and has more dark fruit toward the finish, laced with dark chocolate and brown spices. Very fine. -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Note: typically made from 6 or 7 different 1ers depending on whether the fruit from the parcel of Les Baudes is included; in 2022 it is composed of Les Sentiers, Les Borniques, Haut Doix, Feusselottes, Groseilles, Les Plantes and Les Combottes
Tasting note: An airy, ripe and perfumed nose speaks of mostly various red berries and a hint of cinnamon tea. In keeping with the elegance of the nose the mouthfeel of the middleweight flavors is super-sleek thanks to the very fine-grained tannins shaping the youthfully austere, balanced and lingering finish. This could use more depth but that should progressively develop if given a chance. Outstanding—Allen Meadows, Burghound
