Fine mid purple with a really delicious lifted fresh raspberry fruit on the nose. Joyous red fruit at perfect ripeness on the palate, sailing effortlessly over the structure of the finish. Very attractive. Tasted: November 2019. Four Stars. Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Note: from several lieux-dits including <20% from the 1er Les Chaumes
Tasting note: This too is quite spicy with hints hoisin, sandalwood and exotic tea that add breadth to the markedly floral black pinot fruit nose. The succulent, round and seductively textured, indeed even opulent, flavors coat the mouth with dry extract while also buffering the firm, serious and lightly austere finale. The supporting tannins are dense but fine and this will also need at least some patience. Outstanding. Top Value. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, some whole-bunch addition adding a subtle pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with soft, pliant tannins that frame the red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. It fans out nicely with a pinch of black pepper that draws out the finish. This is a very capable Village Cru from Drouhin.—Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Stunning red-fruited perfume here. Floral and fruity in the extreme. Fine and finely chewy tannins, scented on the palate, with the dry character that it is hard to get in combination with this scentedness outside of the Côte d’Or. Pure, pretty but with depth as well. Long and moreish with the freshness to balance.—Julia Harding MW, Jancis Robinson
