Tasting note: This is more elegant still with its cool essence of red cherry, plum, violet, lilac and spice-nuanced aromas that are set against a backdrop of moderate wood. There is a lovely sense of tension and energy to the bigger-bodied and more mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that culminate in an impressively long finish that is a beautiful combination of refinement and power. Note well though that this mildly warm but still reasonably well-balanced effort is going to require extended cellaring. Allen Meadows – Burghound
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Fontenys has an expressive bouquet with perfumed red cherries, wild strawberry and dried rose petal notes that are beautifully defined. The palate is very well balanced with candied red and black fruit on the entry, a dash of white pepper, pain d'epices and a very structured, focused finish that lingers for a minute in the mouth. Cellar this away for 4-5 years to reap the rewards. Neal Martin – The Wine Advocate
