Promoted in 2012, and only in existence for 15 years or so before that, owner Jean-François Julien has made waves in a short time, and deservedly so. On clay soils in a section of St-Emilion that's better know for its sands, this has power and finesse in 2018, and is definitely one of the deeper-fruited examples, with chewy tannins. Blackberry and blueberry fruits are accompanied by olive paste and some liquorice root through the finish, and there's the most gorgeous seam of freshness. The build up of tannins is barely noticeable until they have barricaded you in. This confident wine will age well. - Jane Anson, Decanter
Beautiful cassis and mulberry fruits as well as notes of iron, dried herbs, and loamy soil emerge from the 2018 Château La Fleur Morange, which comes from a unique site on the lower plains of Saint-Emilion. Medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated, with firm tannins, it's an impressive wine yet needs a good 3-5 years of bottle age, at which point its tannins should be nicely integrated and it will hold for over a decade.-Jeb Dunnuck
Mid to dark garnet. Some oak influence still and both acid and tannin in evidence. Still quite youthful. I'd wait awhile before broaching this. Dried fruit sensation. Quite concentrated with a little drying sensation on the end, but this may just be down to its youth. No shortage of ambition! It's not pastiche style as in the early 20th century, but it's not precisely 21st-century either. 24 hours in a decanter later and it had calmed down a little but is still very embryonic, if ambitious, but to my mind was outshone by the freshness of the 2018 Clos 1873 tasted at the same time.-Jancis Robinson
