Plum and berry with pretty fruit in the center palate. Medium body. Round and juicy. - James Suckling
A blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 La Pointe exhibits aromas of sweet berries, plums, licorice and raw cocoa, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and elegant palate built around tangy acids and fine, powdery tannins. An elegant, fine-boned interpretation of Pomerol, this historic 23-hectare vineyard is benefiting from improved viticulture and later picking. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
An impressive showing from La Pointe in the vintage, with great aromatics, raspberry and redcurrant fruit, grilled vanilla bean and campfire smoke, easy to enjoy, and again a wine that is working with the vintage. It must have been tempting for Director Eric Monneret to showcase the progress that they have made in recent years in terms of deepening concentration through the mid palate by pushing too hard, but instead they have kept a light touch, delivering a flavourful wine with fresh acidities that give a mouthwatering sign off. Not the most intense La Pointe (head to 2019 or 2020 to really see what is happening at this property), but this is enjoyable. Tasted twice. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
The 2021 La Pointe underwent short pumpovers to enact a gentle extraction and matured in 50% new oak. It has a light but well-defined bouquet with graphite infused red fruit (that trait is accentuated in a bottle tasted at the château). Quite elegant in style. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, pretty red fruit and just a touch of piquancy on the finish. It is a Pomerol that keeps within its means and does not try to overdo itself, making it a better wine that should gain substance in barrel. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
A blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 La Pointe is deep garnet-purple colored. It opens with expressive scents of stewed black plums, Morello cherries, and mulberries, plus suggestions of fallen leaves, fragrant earth, and dried Provence herbs. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is soft and juicy with compelling freshness and a savory finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent
