A rich, focused red with blackberry and blueberry character, as well as chocolate and walnuts. It’s full-bodied with polished, round tannins and a flavorful finish. Nicely framed by the tannins. Compact and tight. - James Suckling
Sappy, restrained and enjoyable Larmande, from the same stable as Château Soutard. One of the wines that shows how St Emilion has dialed things back down to retain the beauty of these limestone soils, with emphasis still on gourmet-edged berry fruit flavours and fine tannins. Drinking Window 2025 - 2038 - Jane Anson, Decanter
The 2019 Larmande came across as tight-lipped on the nose despite affording it 30 minutes of aeration. Eventually it offers quite enticing black cherries, red plum and cranberry fruit on the nose, clearly with a fair heft of new oak to be absorbed. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, concentrated red and black fruit laced with white pepper and clove. Dense on the finish, yet this Saint-Émilion maintains plenty of freshness and vigour. Good potential. - Neal Martin
