A restrained nose grudgingly reveals overtly spicy aromas of black pinot fruit, earth and pretty floral nuances and in particular violet. The super-sleek, intense and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors also exude evident minerality on the impressively long and bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that displays focused power. This is worth checking out provided you intended to cellar it for at least a few years first as it's definitely compact at present. Outstanding.—Allen Meadows, Burghound
From the Monthelie end of the vineyard. Rich dark purple in colour. The nose comes across as sturdier than the Refène. There is considerable density, with slightly drier tannins, the fruit appearing a little more at the front of the palate. I picked up the faintest touch of volatility, though barely above the threshold. Tasted Feb 2021. - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
