Vinepair Best Champagnes of 2022
Gold Medal - Drinks Business Best Champagnes of 2021
Taking its name from the first pressing in Champagne, known as La Cuvée, this Brut NV from Laurent-Perrier is a fine example of its category, clean and fresh, but with plenty of bread-like characters from ageing in contact with the wine’s lees. Flavours range from a smoky toasty note to grapefruit and lemon zest, along with chalk dust and cream, in what is a lively, refined style of fizz. - The Drinks Business
The latest rendition of Laurent-Perrier’s NV Brut is showing nicely, wafting from the glass with scents of almond paste, iodine, white peach, warm biscuits and mandarin. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with an elegant, lively profile, displaying a youthfully frothy mousse, good tension at the core and an attractively chalky finish. This is an excellent non-vintage wine that seems to reflect the maison’s efforts to improve their grape sourcing over the last few years. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
A delicate Champagne, with a refined mousse and finely honed acidity, this offers a subtle range of black currant, lemon zest, toast and chalk flavors that linger on the lightly spiced finish. Drink now through 2020. - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
An updated and renovated NV offering from LP, this has bright white stone fruit aromas and flavors with a silky smooth palate and gently nutty build into the finish. Chardonnay leads the wine, while pinot noir and meunier deliver structure and reserve wines add depth and interest. Drink now. - James Suckling
A Chardonnay-heavy non-vintage blend, this Champagne has a subtle fruit profile and soft, sweet character that lingers on the finish. While it’s seen some recent price hikes — as has the majority of the Champagne category, in fairness — it remains widely available and makes for a dependable choice to keep on hand. - Vinepair
This is smooth and softly textured wine. With its relatively high dosage and creamy texture, this standard nonvintage cuvée is immediately accessible and delicious. Great fruit makes it a great aperitif style of Champagne. - Wine Enthusiast
