Opulent and pure with currants and blackberries and some floral and orange undertones. Medium to full body. Fine tannins. Bright at the end. - James Suckling
The 2021 Le Gay is a powerful, tightly wound wine, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. It will be interesting to see where this goes. The 2021 certainly has enough depth to drink well for many years. Dark plum, spice, leather, mocha and well-judged oak inform a wine that is all about balance and proportion. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
The 2021 Le Gay fulfils the promise it showed en primeur with a fine bouquet: red berry fruit, forest floor and a touch of garrigue coming through with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pastille-like red fruit on the entry, fine tannins and a nicely composed finish that feels tender and elegant. This is a finely crafted, quite delicious Pomerol. Chapeau! - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
The 2021 Le Gay offers up aromas of cherries and berries mingled with aromas of mint, vanilla pod and creamy new oak. Full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's rich and layered, with a fleshy core of fruit framed by plenty of extract and oak tannin. It's entirely fermented in new barrels, which has become one of the estate's signatures. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
Scented raspberries and cherries with soft floral touches on the nose. A gentle succulence but here the minerality - liquorice, slate and clove are at the very fore, they coat the mouth with robust tannins that are a little harsh and firm at the moment. I do like the overall mouthfeel at the beginning, this has character and is quite serious in its fleshy structure. Well worked with a youthful charm that will benefit from ageing. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
