A similar colour to the 1998 but the nose is very different – voluminous, surprisingly rich and almost decadent in style with super-ripe blackberries, figs and black olives, almost something of the Northern Rhone here! The palate is full-bodied, very well balanced with superb fruit concentration. After nine-years it is still very youthful, perhaps the most modern in style compared to the 1997 and 1998, with a bold, again slight gamey, persistent. Very fine indeed for the vintage, this is a real turn up for the books. A dark horse. Drink 2012-2025 Tasted March 2008.-Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
