Beautiful subtlety on this wine's nose recalls smoky lemon, citrus pith and molten candlewax. The palate also holds these notions, bolstering that lemony waxiness with thick, layered chalkiness and pithy, mouthwatering freshness. This is concentated and bold, offering energy and drive, with a contradictory heat emanating from a cool core. A compelling wine, it needs to calm down a little. Drink 2025–2040. This has very attractive grapefruit and gently flinty, stony notes with oyster shell, lemon juice and a backdrop of gently toasty oak spice. The palate offers some very composed, succulent and intensely concentrated citrus fruit that just holds and holds and holds. Spectacular length and purity here. Drink over the next decade.—James Suckling
The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is very airy, weightless and lifted. The 35% new oak is not especially evident. The 2018 shows real finesse and aromatic intrigue. Citrus, white flowers, chalk, white orchard fruit, white pepper and mint come together in a very pretty and gracious wine with a long, persistent finish. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
Showing more of a barrel sample nature than the Fevre wine, Bichot's Les Clos has power and richness on the palate. With a hint of toasty oak, and ripe stoned fruit characters, this will develop into a fine Grand Cru given a couple of years in bottle. There is plenty of precision here - this barrel sample doesn't quite do the wine justice but there is clearly so much to come. - Andy Howard, Decanter
