This Volnay develops a significant additional layer of fruit, very succulent, keeping its Volnay origins in sight while delivering an additional layer of velvet fruit. Striking! Drink from 2029-2035. The 2022 Volnay Les Grands Poisots is now the last parcel to be picked to avoid rusticity. It has dark berry fruit on the nose, pastilles-like but with tertiary notes bubbling up with time. The palate is medium-bodied with blackberry, redcurrant and brown spices. With fine depth, taut and fresh on the finish, this is a definite improvement from last year's wine. -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media

Tasting note: This is also quite fresh and airy but with a dark fruit profile of plum, violet and more obvious earth influence. There is also slightly better volume to the focused and precise medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a beautifully balanced and impressively complex finish that is less rustic than it usually is.
