Made from purchased grapes, the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Grands Epenots (Maison Louis Jadot) wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, warm spices, rich soil tones and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with a charming core of fruit, lively acids and refined tannins, this is very promising.—William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Tasting note: Discreet but not imperceptible wood frames the overtly spicy aromas of plum and black cherry. The medium-bodied flavors are not quite as dense but they’re markedly finer with good power and depth on the much better-balanced and lengthier finale. This is lovely and is also a wine that should age gracefully. Ouststanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2019 Pommard Grands Epenots 1er Cru, which is bought half in wine and half in grapes, has a very expressive and almost Volnay-like bouquet of ebullient red cherry, raspberry, violet and blood orange aromas. The palate is very well balanced, offering succulent red berry fruit and a fine bead of acidity. Fleshy yet structured, as you would expect from this vintage. Very smooth on the finish. This is a noble Côte de Beaune from Jadot and maybe their best cuvée from that part of Burgundy.—Neal Martin, Vinous Media
