The 2018 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has a perfumed nose of dandelion, jasmine and crushed chalk aromas, a faint sea spray note emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a spicy ginger and sage-influenced opening. There is a feisty element to this Vaulorent, a touch of white pepper sprinkled over the finish. Lively and engaging. I would be tempted to broach this earlier than Louis Michel’s other cuvées, yet it is still a well-crafted and quite complex Chablis. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
There is just enough reduction present on the mostly floral nose to warrant a quick aeration. There is even better refinement to the slightly bigger and richer flavors that possess a sleek, even classy, mouthfeel while exhibiting fine length on the clean and dry finale. This too will need to add more depth, but it should be able to do that if given a few years first. - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Clear fresh lemon yellow. The nose is steely and pure, classical Chablis more than 2018. Plenty of weight here, a little bit of spice, certainly fully ripe, with a long generous finish. One of the fuller bodied wines in the cellar. - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
