#1 James Suckling's 10 Best Value 2019 Bordeaux
Wow. This is so perfumed and mesmerizing with currant, floral and blackberry character. It’s full-bodied, yet so refined and polished with wonderfully fine-grained and crafted tannins. The finish goes on and on. - James Suckling
The 2019 Malescot Saint Exupéry has a well-defined bouquet, although it does not quite possess the intensity that it showed from barrel. Touches of licorice and allspice gently unfold with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, and lightly spiced with white pepper and clove toward the detailed, persistent finish. This is a serious Margaux that deserves time in bottle.
Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicately leafy black forest berries, liquorice, orange zest, candied tangerine peel. Complex, juicy and fresh, fine nougat, powerful, ripe tannins, firm, well adhering, has length and development, certain ageing potential. - PM, Falstaff
- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
The 2019 Malescot Saint-Exupery is deep garnet-purple in color. It prances out with gregarious black and red cherries, fragrant earth, blackcurrant pastilles, and violets notes plus wafts of tar and fallen leaves. The velvety, medium-bodied palate is laden with vibrant, energetic black and red berry layers, lifted by a refreshing backbone and finishing long and fruity. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent
The 2019 Malescot St. Exupery is generous and expressive, bursting with aromas of cassis, cherries and blackberries mingled with hints of loamy soil, dark chocolate and espresso roast. Full-bodied, broad and muscular, its fleshy core of fruit is framed by succulent acids and ripe, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This will reward a bit of bottle age with flamboyant drinking. - Walter Kelley, Wine Advocate
The 2019 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry has an almost old-school vibe in its cedary, herbal, meaty, almost gamey aromatics, but it has beautiful purity in its both black and blue fruits. Medium to full-bodied, on the palate, it's nicely concentrated, has building tannins, good mid-palate density, and a great finish. I don't think it matches the 2016 and 2018, but it's a seriously good Margaux that already offers pleasure. It won't hit maturity for another 7-8 years but should have a lengthy drinking plateau. - Jeb Dunnuck
Bramble fruit and hedgerow on the nose, this is lovely, succulent and juicy full of blue fruits - blueberries and freshly crushed mint leaves. I love the interplay between herbal and fruit aspects with gentle tannins that support but really the emphasis here is on the mint-tinged fruit from start to finish. Tannins are abundant not doubt so best to wait a few years to open but this has excellent freshness that is so appealing. Drinking Window 2024 - 2035 - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
Tasted blind. Rich and well balanced, even if quite evolved. Lots of early pleasure with some fruit density and a tannic charge that became more evident in the glass. Good wine!-Jancis Robinson
