The 2017 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Montceau is showing beautiful, unwinding in the glass with a bouquet of orange oil, lemon zest, pear and dried white flowers that's more youthfully reticent than the En Remilly, framed by a light touch of reduction. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, chiseled and tensile, with a beautifully chalky, mineral profile. This is well worth seeking out, and it will reward a bit of bottle age. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate
Tasting note: Again there is sufficient unabsorbed sulfur to largely dominate the otherwise cool white orchard fruit, citrus and apple aromas. More interesting are the intense, racy and overtly mineral-driven middle weight flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finale. At present this isn't as complex as the En Remilly but I suspect that will eventually change as this ages as En Montceau almost always needs age to shine. Outstanding – Top Value – Allen Meadows – Burghound
From the lower part of the vineyard, a relatively cool site. This has a powerful chiselled nose, and a huge weight of intense white fruit through the middle, with considerable intensity at the back of the palate and very persistent. This is the one to keep for laying down. Tasted: October 2018. Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
The 2017 Saint-Aubin en Montceau 1er Cru has another quite riveting bouquet with touches of yellow flower, dried quince and crushed stone that needs a little encouragement. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, so elegant and refined with a precise, mineral-driven bouquet that unfolds in the glass with aeration. You can feel the salinity 45 seconds after the wine has exited. Superb. (DIAM closure)-- Neal Martin – Vinous Media
