“I am convinced that 2009 is of the same pedigree as 2002” - Benoit Gouez, Moët & Chandon cellar master
A firm, tightly meshed rosé Champagne, with a powerful frame of smoky mineral and acidity swathed in a fine range of wild strawberry, whole-grain toast, kumquat and exotic spice notes that linger on the racy finish. Disgorged February 2017. Drink now through 2030. - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
Interestingly, the 2009 Extra Brut Grand Vintage Rosé is quite a bit tighter and pointed than the Blanc. Here, it is the wine’s energy and tension that stand out most. It will be interesting to see if the 2009 gains a bit more volume over time. Even today, though, the 2009 is beautifully resonant and expressive, with striking vinous intensity driving through to the finish. Hints of orange peel, mint, chalk and blood orange add shades of character. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
While initially soft, this wine then develops a crisper side that comes from the red-currant flavors. It also has some toasty touches and hints of maturity. Taken together, these elements have produced a rich wine, ripe and ready to drink. - Wine Enthusiast
A bold, rich and ripe array of berries and cherries, this has the signature, toasty, autolytic stamp of the house and it sits better here than in just about any other Moët in the range. Sweeping, supple, soft-fruit texture. Drink now. - James Suckling
55% Pinot Noir (of which 19% was red wine), 30% Chardonnay, 11% Pinot Meunier. Dosage is just 5g/l, as it has been since 2002 for both Grand Vintage Moëts. Mid salmon pink. Unexpectedly savoury on the nose, and then the Pinot Noir asserts itself with perfume on the palate. This seems more astringent than the white version. And certainly not remotely sweet even though there is a light strawberry note. I'd want to give it a bit more time even though it has had seven years on the lees and six months in bottle after disgorgement. - Jancis Robinson
