A wine with lovely, crunchy purple fruit, fresh raspberry and citrus. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a crisp and vivid finish. Plenty of fruit at the end. Needs a little time to open, but already refreshing and delicious. -James Suckling
Sangiovese, 20% Montepulciano, 20% Alicante and 15% Malvasia Nera, the wine opens to a dark and impenetrable appearance. Nardo is a small and precious production with only 1,900 bottles made
The 2020 Nardo is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Malvasia Nera and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon (with 4,200 bottles released). This wine has an inky core of black fruit with grilled rosemary or curry leaf at the back. You get elegant mineral tones that recall pencil shaving or even a hint of rusty iron. The palate is dry and quite firm with both fruit and oak tannins. Again, this hot vintage delivers high alcohol, measured at 15%.-Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate
Powerful ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Presents itself on the nose with intense notes of plums, pickled cherries and some tobacco. Grippy, gripping tannin, lots of sweet fruit melt, still a little rough in the finish.-Falstaff
The 2020 Nardo is a wild, powerful wine. Dark red fruit, menthol, licorice, spice, game, grilled herbs, earthiness and tobacco add to an impression of rusticity. I am not sure if the huge, imposing tannins will ever soften, so some caution seems warranted. The 2020 is quite the bruiser.-Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
