Very fine tannins to this young wine with blackberry, blueberry and asphalt undertones. It’s medium-to full-bodied, fresh and linear. - James Suckling
The 2020 Montviel is very nicely done. Juicy and inky to the core, Montviel offers tons of charm and sheer deliciousness. Raspberry jam, spice, rose petal, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco build as this silky, opulent Pomerol shows off its considerable allure. There is a wonderful sense of immediacy to the 2020. It's one of the best recent vintages I can remember tasting. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
Lots of ripe red, black, and blue fruits as well as notes of damp earth and violets emerge from the glass of the 2020 Château Montviel, a medium-bodied, elegant barrel sample with spicy floral nuances, plenty of chalky minerality, light tannins, and a great finish. I love its balance as well as its purity of fruit. - Jeb Dunnuck
Good focus, a little light through the mid palate with some raspberry leaf aromatics but has an easy charm to it, and has the supple texture and fruit focus that is easy to enjoy. Good-value Pomerol. - Jane Anson, Decanter
Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Montviel needs a little swirling to unlock scents of stewed plums and baked blackberries, plus hints of garrigue, tilled soil and tobacco leaf with a hint of crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers pure, juicy black and blue fruits, supported by soft, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with a red berry lift. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
