Tank sample. Still crisp, fresh and lively, there is a subdued colour here and a slightly sour character to the fruit. Given the undoubted quality of the producer, I expect that once bottled it will be a fine AOP Chablis. Drinking Window 2021 - 2025 - Andy Howard MW, Decanter

The 2019 Chablis Village is very demonstrative, bursting from the glass with notes of citrus oil, honeycomb, white flowers and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny, it's fleshy and charming, concluding with a saline finish. Note that there will be a second, later bottling of this cuvée, which I'd expect to show more structure and sapid nuance.

Virginie Moreau presides over this leading domaine, where the order of the day is organic (but not certified) farming; harvesting ripe but clean fruit, cropped at modest yields; and extended maturation on the lees. Concentrated, textural wines that are some of the most characterful to be found in Chablis are the result, and that's certainly the case in 2018—which over-performs the vintage—and 2019. Ripe and golden like the Petit Chablis. Rich, almost honeyed on the palate, the citrus flavours are so ripe.
