The 4.6 hectare (11 acre) vineyard is situated on the midslope of the Côte d'Or, delimited by the outskirts of Chassagne-Montrachet village on its northwestern corner and the Premier Cru vineyard Cailleret on the slope above (west). On roughly the same contour line and aspect, the Premier Cru sites of Les Fairendes lies to the south and La Maltroie to the north.
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain unwinds in the glass with aromas of pear, fresh bread, confit citrus and toasted almonds. Medium to full-bodied, bright and chalky, with a charming core of fruit, lively acids and a saline finish, it's a fine effort.—William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Offers enticing aromas of marine and mineral elements that complement flavors of peach, apple pie, citronella, vanilla and clove. Intense, yet also fluid, with fine harmony and a long aftertaste of fruit, mineral and baking spices. Drink now through 2029. 120 cases imported. - BS, Wine Spectator
