One wine that's indubitably built for the cellar is Niellon's emblematic 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées Clos de la Truffière. Opening in the glass with scents of crisp orchard fruit, Meyer lemon, wheat toast and a subtle touch of reduction, it's medium to full-bodied, textural and incisive, with fine depth at the core, lively acids, and a long, precise finish. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate
This is the Niellon’s oldest plot, hard to work as the vines grow almost straight on the rock. There is also a hydric stress risk here. Clear pale colour, the nose is a little blocked today. White fruit, excellent texture, just the right acidity, savoury saline notes but sheer class too. Lovely. Jasper Morris – Inside Bugundy
An opulent style, this white boasts lush flavors of peach, apricot, butter and toasty, spicy elements. It's beautifully balanced, the richness offset by tangy, lime-tinged acidity, with terrific length on the finish. Drink now through 2025. 70 cases imported. — BS – Wine Spectator
Note: from a .54 ha parcel of leased vines that Niellon has exploited since 1988 and he believes that they were planted in 1939
Tasting note: Smoky aromas of the essence of white peach are given added breadth with hints of citrus peel and passion fruit. There is fine richness to the beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors that are at once suave and succulent while offering very good length on the lemon rind-tinged finish. This too should be approachable young thanks to the abundant level of dry extract. Outstanding – Allen Meadows - Burghound
