Warm, earthy, ultraripe aromas of blackberry, raisin and cassis announce a bold, forward, fiercely tannic palate. Flavors of lactic oak, baked blackberry, cassis and licorice finish long, toasty, dark and chocolaty. This is brash, powerful and modern. Lusty and built to age; drink from 2018–2032 - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast

(made from a crop level of about 1.3 tons per hectare and aged in 100% new French oak): Bright purple. Heady smoke- and mineral-accented aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, incense and floral pastilles, with hints of mocha and cola slowly emerging. Densely packed and alluringly sweet, offering palate-staining blueberry and cherry-vanilla flavors and a sexy Indian spice flourish. Sappy, smooth and seamless, finishing with powerful thrust; velvety tannins come in late to add shape and gentle grip. (I also had the chance to taste the newly bottled 2012 version of this wine when I visited the bodega this fall and it looks to be a stunner. It's densely packed with dark fruit flavors; although a bit inscrutable right now, it's clearly destined to be a remarkable wine. I'll review it, formally, during the next go-round for Toro wines.) - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media

Rich yet focused, this modern-style red delivers a mouthful of blackberry and currant fruit, framed by coffee and toast flavors, with mineral and sanguine accents adding a savory element. Energetic but not heavy, this leaves a spicy finish. Drink now through 2021. 500 cases imported. - TM, Wine Spectator

A firm and chewy wine with lots of wood and a lightly dry finish. Full body, fresh acidity and a clean and flavorful finish. Excellent fruit underneath. Drink or hold. - James Suckling

The 2011 Termanthia is dark and brooding with notes of peat and damp earth, shoe polish and plenty of smoky, spicy notes from the barrel. The palate is full-bodied, but seems a little too extracted with drying tannins toward the end. It seems a bit too extracted and dry. It might improve with time in bottle, as it is too young. Drink 2015-2019. - Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate
