This is easily one of the most interesting reds in Pessac in this vintage, showing finesse, grip, good tannins, subdued but present blueberry and raspberry fruits, savoury but full of finesse and juice, cloves and white pepper. Impressive winemaking, rises above the vintage although you should not expect exuberance but careful control, and I would err on the side of caution and drink within 10 to 15 years to make the most of the fruit. 40hl/h yield. Tasted twice. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
Lovely nose of sour cherry, caramel, roses and blackcurrants; so expressive. Dense and chewy fruit on the palate - this has a succulence and sweet softness which is appealing. It's lightly framed, not dense or weighty but has excellent clarity and precision: clear, linear with tension and drive. It's focused and all in one stream right now but I love the juiciness, the texture and the minerality. Will be good to see how the ageing expands the palate. A clear Pessac success in the vintage. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
A tight and focused Pessac with crushed berry, cherry and some orange and lemon. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and a juicy finish. - James Suckling
The 2021 Château Olivier is another solid Pessac withs lots of classic appellation notes of red and blue fruits, tobacco, scorched earth, and violets, yet it reveals a beautiful sense of flowers and floral nuances with time in the glass. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has good mid-palate depth, moderate tannins, and lots of charm. It should drink well right out of the gate. - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2021 Olivier has a light blackberry and tobacco-scented nose that would benefit from more vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins that frame the subtly spiced red fruit. Some attenuation on the finish but it will drink nicely for 12-15 years. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
