This has aromas of blackberries, porcini mushrooms, tobacco and charred bark. It’s medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. Savory, with plenty of earth and mineral character. Fresh finish. Drink or hold.—James Suckling
The 2017 Pauillac is a gorgeous wine. Unlike most of the Latour releases of these last few years, it needs more time in bottle! There is plenty of textural depth, but the acids are high and the tannins are a bit larger in size than is typical for the Pauillac. I very much like the wine's exuberance and power. The 2017 is still very vibrant. It just needs time to develop more aromatic nuance.-Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
The 2017 Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour is a blend of 52.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39.9% Merlot, and 7.2% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet in color, it drifts languorously out of the glass with seductive scents of roses, fallen leaves, tilled soil, and Ceylon tea, giving way to a core of cassis, redcurrant jelly, and raspberry preserves. The medium-bodied palate delivers a firm, fine-grained texture and fantastic freshness to support the delicately styled, tightly wound layers, finishing with a mineral lift. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
Latour’s indecently good 2017 Le Pauillac de Château Latour bursts with fragrant aromas of creamy cassis, wild berries and plums. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and polished, it’s supple and succulent, with an enveloping core of fruit, lively acids and already melting tannins. This is already very approachable on release.—William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Based on 52.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39.9% Merlot, and 7.2% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Le Pauillac De Chateau Latour shows the classic style of the vintage, yet has rock-solid density and depth as well as some Latour class. Blackcurrants, cassis, smoked tobacco, new leather, and graphite all emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, textured, and elegant on the palate.—Jeb Dunnuck
Deep crimson with purple rim. Delicately fragrant with dark-red fruit. Lots of juicy black fruit and real finesse here for the Pauillac. Fine but defined tannins and lovely freshness. Lots of energy and a long juicy finish.-Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson
