This has a really beautiful depth and finish to it with chocolate, blackberry, black currant and light mint character. Full. Very long. Seamless tannins. Hints of acidity. Better in 2019 but already excellent. - James Suckling
Solid, with ample iron and briar notes layering the dark currant and blackberry fruit flavors. Offers a sappy feel for the vintage, with brambly tannins holding the finish. This has put on some noticeable weight since the barrel tasting. Best from 2017 through 2024. 10,000 cases made.
One of the gems in this difficult vintage (there’s plenty of good wines in 2013, not many great wines), the 2013 Pichon-Longueville Baron offers solid ripeness and medium-bodied richness as well as plenty of darker fruits, underbrush, and spicy, cedary aromas and flavors. It’s a charming, balanced, nicely textured 2013 to drink over the coming decade. - Jeb Dunnuck
Tasted blind. Inky with black core. Ripe cassis – stands out for rich fruit in this line-up. Attractively savoury too. Firm, dark and very Pauillac with finesse to the tannins. Embryonic and promising. (JH) - JancisRobinson .com
