The 2020 Rayne-Vigneau has a pale gold color, needing a little coaxing to unlock notions of canned pineapples, baked peaches and acacia honey, with hints of candle wax, allspice and toasted almonds. A very pleasing young Sauternes with attractive dried fruit, such as mangoes and apples with medium body, medium sweetness and a clean finish. Not a lot of botrytis character showing. - James Suckling

Deep copper colour. A little brûlée on the nose but quite fragile. Big, bold, round and sweet on the front palate and then lightly burnt note on the finish with a hint of burnt pineapple. Some energy in this but there is also some stickiness rather than botrytis. - Jancis Robinson
