Coming from a vineyard in the northern part of the appellation, not far from Cheval Blanc, the 2020 Château Ripeau has a medium to full-bodied, fresh yet concentrated style as well as impressive purity in its blue fruits, cassis, and floral aromas and flavors. The tannins are present yet ripe and soft, it has a layered, deep mid-palate, and the freshness of the vintage. It’s unquestionably a beautiful wine in the making. The 2020 Ripeau has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry coulis and touches of orange blossom and violets, quite persuasive and charming. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied and silky-smooth, with pliant tannins and superb acidity. Certainly, I cannot recall a Ripeau as good as this out of barrel, and if it retains this panache and allure in bottle, it could be one of the hidden gems of the vintage.- Neal Martin, Vinous Media

There is definite reduction on the nose here, but as it opens you find sleek winemaking, plenty of deft blending of blackberry, slate, almond and fennel. Intense, but has juice, finesse and lift. From sandy gravel soils with some clay. A yield of 31hl/ha.
