The 2015 Ridolfo is a new Cabernet Sauvignon/Pugnitello blend from Marco Ricasoli bottled only in magnum. Vibrant and finely sculpted, the 2015 impresses right out of the gate. A whole range of savory aromatics, lavender, spice, licorice and mocha open with time in the glass. Sweet rose petal and
cinnamon appear later, adding brightness and lift. Cabernet Sauvignon and Pugnitello are not obvious varieties to blend, as they are, on paper, more similar than complementary. Even so, the combination works so well. I can't wait to see how this ages. The 2015 is a total knock-out!-Vinous Media
This red is a beautiful expression of varietal character, with pure cherry and strawberry fruit. Firmly structured, with accents of menthol, earth, iron and tobacco, ending in a long aftertaste emphasizing the fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon and Pugnitello. Best from 2023 through 2035. 660 cases made, 240 cases imported. Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
A modern classic in the making. Right now this shows generous blackberry and cherry fruit with lots of concentration. Suave and not sweet with a very fine, savoury oak note. Gorgeous deep fruit palate but this is way too young to show its true complexity. Right now an adolescent but a very pretty one with a layer of sandpapery tannins and bags of fruit on the finish. Wait at least another three years, although if you want 'Sturm und Drang' now is the time. (WS) - Jancis Robinson
