The 2023 Riesling Kirchweg Smaragd grows in a mix of loess and eroded paragneiss deposits closer to the Danube. A touch of mandarin plays on the nose, with some white summer blossom alongside a certain creaminess. The palate has that same smoothness but is aligned to a stony verve. Focus brings zestiness, while the mid-palate has lovely pith, slender but concentrated, with scented, subtle citrus on the long nish. The 2023 is a Riesling with tons of charm. (Bone-dry)-Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous Media
Light chartreuse yellow with a silver sheen. A hint of lemon balm, white tropical fruit, fine pome fruit nuances. Juicy, elegant, fresh peach, racy, a lively acidity, some pineapple, a salty minerality, with a salty finish, drinking very well, remains persistent, strong ageing potential.--Peter Moser, Fallstaff
Intense and intensely Riesling aroma of lime, and wet stones. Just a little bit reduced/stinky but should blow off. Fresh, driving acid backbone clothed in sufficient fruit. Dry, stony and slightly sour finish.-Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson
