The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very intense and powerful bouquet with dark cherries, blackcurrant, iodine and pressed violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, yes, a little oaky at the moment, but there is clearly sufficient fruit to back that up and it fans out gloriously towards the blood orange infused finish. This is wonderful. Neal Martin
(13.2% natural alcohol): Bright red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry and violet. Supple, savory and fine-grained, with dark berry fruit flavors complicated by a hint of game and enticing salty minerality. This wonderfully plush grand cru finishes with suave tannins and lovely fruit persistence. In its usual refined style, and built for a graceful evolution in bottle. Stephen Tanzer
Tasting note: Firm reduction renders the nose unreadable today. On the plus side there is good freshness and underlying tension to the big-bodied, powerful and impressively constituted flavors that brim with dry extract while offering outstanding complexity on the balanced, firm and brilliantly persistent finish. Once again, lots of patience required. Allen Meadows – Burghound ‘Sweetspot’
