Bright red-ruby. Aromas and flavors of black cherry and licorice are complicated by hints of game, leather and earth. Broad, sweet and pliant; in fact, finer-grained and more feminine than this wine normally is at this stage. Boasts terrific density of material and finishes very long, with surprisingly suave tannins and enticing salty minerality. Serafin's Cazetier often needs a decade of cellaring, but this palate-saturating wine should be accessible earlier than that. Stephen Tanzer
Tasting note: Here the overtly sauvage-inflected nose reflects notes of pungent iron-infused earth along with both red and dark currant scents that in combination just screams Gevrey. The rich, intense, well-muscled and mineral-driven flavors display remarkably good delineation along with overt power on the explosively long, serious and very firmly structured finish. Serafin builds his Cazetiers to last for years and the 2015 version should have no trouble doing just that. Allen Meadows – Burghound –Outstanding
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers was broody and sulky compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, perhaps some reduction occluding the fruit profile. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, compact and linear in the mouth, and perhaps sans the joie-de-vivre and panache of the Charmes-Chambertin. Give this several years in bottle to see whether serving it at the end of my tasting of 2015s was justified! Neal Martin
