From a steep slope above Pernand with sandy marl and limestone soil. The plot was planted by thirds (1939, 1949, 1954) and is 2.20 hectares of which 1/3 is planted to Chardonnay and
2/3 to Pinot Noir. It is worth noting that the most important wind for Burgundy is the North wind. The north wind is always passing over Aux Vergelesses.

The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Vergelesses is a striking wine, soaring from the glass with scents of wilted roast petals, bergamot, oriental spices, wild berries and plums. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's vibrant and velvety, with lively acids and a long, perfumed finish. This is an immensely good Savigny from Chisa Bize and her team.—William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
