#1 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 2021
From an estate in the southern part of Margaux, this wine has just the right mix of rich tannins and taut black-currant flavors to give upfront freshness and potential for further aging. Structured and fruity, it should be drunk from 2027. - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Blackberries, mushrooms and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied with a very compact palate that shows creamy and refined tannins that are strong and driven. Some tar and wet earth at the end. Needs three or four years to come together. Best after 2025. - James Suckling
Youthful, plush and opulent, boasting concentrated aromas of ripe black berry fruit, violet lift and fresh cedar oak spice. The well-structured palate supports fleshy black and red currant fruit enlivened by vibrant acidity, peppery spice and inky, grippy tannins. A very approachable, tasty, harmonious claret for mid-term enjoyment. - Tina Gellie, Decanter
Juicy and forward, with expressive cassis, plum reduction and blackberry paste flavors layered together and set against a backdrop of black tea, bay and alder. Long, subtle mineral note leaves a mouthwatering feel at the very end. Lovely. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2035. 8,333 cases made. - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Siran wafts out of the glass with very pretty scents of red roses, cinnamon stick, chocolate-covered cherries and fragrant earth, giving way to a core of warm cassis and plum preserves, plus a touch of camphor. The medium to full-bodied palate is absolutely laden with rich, juicy black fruits, supported by velvety tannins and plenty freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This very classy, absolutely delicious Margaux tastes great now, but it will reward 3-4 years of cellaring and has the stuffing to continue thereafter for 20+ years. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
The 2018 Siran is impressive, to say the least. Inky, dark and seductive, the 2018 is gorgeous right out of the bottle. Blue/purplish fruit, mocha, spice, chocolate and new French oak all race across the palate. The high percentage of Merlot is felt in the wine's juiciness and palate-weight, while a kick of brightness energizes the finish. In a word: terrific. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
A warm vintage during harvest, and this is showing a rich plum colour, with a satin texture that speaks to alcohols that are higher than usual in this part of the Médoc peninsula. Great quality though, and the Petit Verdot is put to good use in terms of giving lift, spice, focus, depth, and good balance to the exuberance of the year. Appealing expansion through the mid palate, this is a great wine to look out for drinking over the next 10 to 15 years. Marjolaine Defrance cellar master, Hubet de Boüard consultant. 35% new oak. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
Deep ruby colour. Sweet vanilla and baked plums on the nose, but retaining some floral typicality. Silky smooth palate with very refined and ripe tannins. The fruit shines through and is ripe without any excess. Some bright acidity cuts through the smokier toasted notes on the palate. Succulent to the finish.-Tom Parker MW, JancisRobinson
