The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques has an enticing bouquet with pure wild strawberry, raspberry and cold stone scents that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a tightly wound opening, perhaps more reticent than the Vieilles Vignes at this premature stage, but very focused with fine tension towards the saline finish. This is a very fine Clos Saint Jacques, though whether it will ultimately surpass the Vieilles Vignes remains to be seen. Tasted November 2016. - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
(60% vendange entier; 60% new oak): Saturated, bright red-ruby. Precise aromas of black cherry, licorice, minerals and violet. Like liquid silk in the mouth, but with lovely sappy energy to the black cherry and dark chocolate flavors. Finishes broad, perfumed and long. These wines seem a bit stunted today owing to the cold cellar temperature. Stephen Tanzer
