The Eyrie Vineyards Original Vines Chardonnay Reserve 2009 (750ML)

The wine they label as 2009 Chardonnay Original Old Vines Reserve represents a selection of the best barrels. Fresh pear and apple are tinged with orange rind and green herbs. There is a deep savor here of subtly smoky toasted nuts and some of the same - albeit more deeply buried - scallop-like sweetness and salinity that were found in the regular 2010 bottling, all making for an utterly mouthwatering finish. It should be well worth extending the pleasure of this wine's company for a decade.
