Vinepair Best Champagnes for 2023
Toasty and generous with lemon freshness, this also has quite some dried-pear and peach aromas from mature elements of the blend, plus a touch of spice at the long, structured finish. The cuvée is based on 2015 and is 50% pinot noir, 30% chardonnay and 20% pinot meunier. Reserve wines make up more than one third of the blend. - James Suckling
A smoky note of roasted nut is subtly woven with the baked apple, lemon meringue and fennel seed flavors in this vibrant Champagne, with a refined, creamy mousse. Drink now through 2020. Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
Light gold. Musky orchard fruits and dried fig on the mineral-accented nose. Fleshy and broad on the palate, offering smoky pear and nectarine flavors and a hint of honey. Finishes on a gently spicy note, with very good cling and a touch of bitter lemon pith. Things have definitely begun to turn around for this bottling, which had been lagging behind the winery's vintage offerings for some time. Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media
One of the most familiar of Champagnes, the Yellow Label is finely madea fruity while structured wine. It has both fresh and fragrant fruit as well as richness, a soft, creamy texture and bright acidity. There is no sense in bottle aging heredrink this wine because of its crispness. Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Veuve's 'yellow label' non-vintage Champagne is perhaps the region's most recognisable. It's a blend of around 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier, from up to 60 different crus. The doughy base shows a hint of creaminess, layered with light and fresh flavours of lemon, orange peel, razor-sharp green apples and a steely, mineral finish. Quintessential Champagne and a great aperitif thanks to it's light-footed style. - JB, Decanter
This wine needs no introduction. Its iconic yellow label has made it one of the most recognized wines on the planet. And for good reason. It’s ripe and fruit-forward with lively bubbles and slight hints of richness. The palate is balanced, refreshing, and ready to please a crowd. - Vinepair
