A new wine in the Vilmart line-up! Chardonnay from the vineyard of “Blanches Voies” (60-year-old vines) in the premier-cru village of Rilly-la-Montagne is vinified in new oak and disgorged in 2020, with a dosage of around 8g/l. The new oak exerts its influence aromatically. Strict, pure, and linear, kiwi, lime, and guava are amongst the plethora of complex aromas on display here. As the wine warms in the glass, the palate gains weight and mid-palate succulence. So long and precise, it is likely drinking a diamond. This champagne will age gracefully; toasty nuances will undoubtedly develop in the not-too-distant future. Excellent. Drink from 2028-2044. Tasted: April 2023.--Stephen Pritchard, Inside Burgundy
The 2012 Extra-Brut Les Blanc de Blancs Blanches Voies is stellar. It offers tons of brilliance and energy, especially for a year in which most wines are quite a bit more radiant. It's a style that works quite well here, though. Crushed rocks, white pepper, mint and lemon peel all build as the 2012 shows off its alluring, saline-infused personality. This is an especially chiseled, finely cut 2012. I loved it. Disgorged: June, 2020.--Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
