This dry riesling masterpiece is full of seeming contradictions that give it a sense of mystery you very rarely find. So rich and concentrated, yet also astonishingly vivid and precise, the aromas range from smoke to roses, although the most obvious note is the peachy one up front. Clos Saint Urbain Rangen de Thann produces some of the best wines from the domaine, and certainly the most powerful. The astonishing bouquet shows smoky, flinty, calcareous, spring flowers and orchard fruits aromas. What power and complexity! The palate is also impressive, with some depth, power, a full-bodied texture and a vibrant finish. The acidity is perfectly balanced.
