The flagship 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot brought up in 40% new French oak. With an essence of Cabernet-like character in its darker currants, green tobacco, cedar, graphite, and floral aromas and flavors, this gorgeous wine is full-bodied and has bright yet integrated acidity, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s just gorgeously put together and a magical, flawless wine. It's going to take a decade to hit maturity but will evolve for 40-50 years in cold cellars. It is as good as it gets in classic, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon! - Jeb Dunnuck
Eisele Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (99 WA / 99 JS)
The very deep, purple-black colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It takes a fair amount of swirling to unlock an incredibly intense nose of dark chocolate, warm cassis, baked plums and Morello cherries plus touches of red roses, violets, pencil shavings, cinnamon stick and dusty soil with a hint of iron ore. The full-bodied palate is so exquisitely elegant, charged with electric black and red fruits and a firm frame of super-ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long and very perfumed. This is pure energy in a glass!—LPB, The Wine Advocate
Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder 2018 (100 JD / 100 JS / 99 WA / 98 VM)
Always one of the standouts from Carpenter, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is another flat-out awesome wine that couldn’t be better. Revealing a dense purple color as well as extraordinary notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, mountain scrub brush, graphite, violets, and cedar pencil, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, layers of ripe, seamless tannins (it’s a mountain Cabernet), a beautiful sense of freshness, and a great, great finish. This is one for the ages. It needs 7-8 years of bottle age, but it will be one of the great Napa Cabernets over the following 50 years or more.—Jeb Dunnuck
Opus One 2018 (99 JS / 98 WA / 98 DE / 98 JA / 97 JD)
Extremely perfumed and floral with lavender, lilacs and violets to the sweet, ripe berries, such as blackberries and blackcurrants. Some slate and graphite, too. It’s full-bodied, yet ever so balanced and refined, with super fine tannins that last for minutes. Fresh herbs, such as bay leaf and lemon grass highlight the dark fruit. The quality of tannin is exquisite with wonderful polish and refinement. Lasts for minutes. So wonderful to taste now, but better after 2026. - James Suckling
Spottswoode Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (100 WA / 100 JD / 99 VM)
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon soars out of the glass with stunning intensity. A powerful, regal wine, the 2018 possesses off the charts richness and layers of flavor that build into a dizzying crescendo of aromas, flavors and textures. Bittersweet chocolate, mocha, spice and licorice accents are laced into a core of dark red cherry and plum fruit. The 2018 is a magical wine. That's all there is to it.-- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
Verite La Muse 2018 (100 WA / 99 JD / 98 JS)
A blend of 90% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec, the 2018 La Muse was matured 16 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the nose delivers a powerful perfume of cherry pie, blackberry preserves and baked plums, followed by suggestions of red roses, cast-iron pan, underbrush and unsmoked cigars, plus wafts of licorice and oolong tea. Medium to full-bodied, the black fruit and exotic spice layers flow so gracefully over the palate, textured by plush tannins and lifted with seamless freshness, finishing epically long and achingly fragrant. The intensity and complexity of aromas and flavors—all waltzing in captivating harmony—cannot fail to make your head spin in the best possible way. Electrifying! --Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate
