Note: from very old vines
Tasting note: Moderate wood influence is present on the ripe and very fresh aromas of green fruit, shellfish and seaweed. The succulent and very generous, even lavish, flavors possess an abundance of sappy dry extract that buffers the firm but not hard acid spine maintaining the balance on the equally long finish. This is less mineral driven than the Les Clos but there is presently a bit more depth which should only increase with time in bottle. Sweet Spot.--Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2020 Chablis Les Grenouilles Grand Cru has a much more nuanced and sophisticated bouquet than some of its peers, beautifully defined with succinct use of oak. There is real palpable mineralité here—you could be standing on the Chablis hillside overlooking the namesake town. The palate is well-balanced, with a slightly honeyed texture on the entry. It is a fleshy Grand Cru, but it doesn't quite deliver the complexity on the finish that the nose deserves. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (July 2024) -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media
