Note: from vines planted in 1988 in Vignes Derrière
Tasting note: More elegant if slightly exotic aromas include those of pretty floral, fennel, white and yellow peach plus a whiff of passion fruit. The middle weight flavors are not as concentrated but they're markedly finer and more mineral-driven while displaying focused power on the very dry finale. Note that this too is quite backward and a wine that will definitely need at least some forbearance. Outstanding. 2029+ --Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru was stubborn and backward on the nose, perhaps subdued after SO2 was added just after the recent harvest. The palate is certainly well balanced with good weight, though I find a little more tension and verve in the Virondot at present. It should find its voice by bottling and turn into a fine Chassagne, but is likely to need more cellaring then others. 2024+ -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media
