To celebrate the momentous occasion of a port wine travelling to space for the first time, Taylor’s is bringing extra sparkle to wine cellars with limited edition galactic-inspired gift box packaging for its 2003 Vintage Port.

One of the most highly rated vintage ports in recent decades, the Taylor’s 2003’s legacy was elevated to new heights in August 2022 when it became the first ever port to break through the Earth’s atmosphere. Enclosed in a specially designed 50cl container sealed with natural cork, a bottle of Taylor’s 2003 Vintage Port travelled to an altitude of 107 kilometres above mean sea level as the chosen vinous companion to fellow pioneer - and the first ever Portuguese man in space - businessman and entrepreneur, Mário Ferreira. Reflecting on the historic significance of the mission, Taylor’s CEO Adrian Bridge remarked, that this particular Port Wine was ‘an excellent choice and the perfect vintage with which to explore new frontiers’. He added ‘The Taylor’s 2003 Vintage is one of the most highly acclaimed Port Wines of recent decades - a monumental Vintage which, to quote celebrated wine authority Robert Parker, will stand proudly shoulder to shoulder with the finest ever crafted by Taylor’s’.

I was blown away by the 2003 Taylors vintage port. - Robert Parker, Hedonist's Gazette #438

The 2003 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port improved each time I raised it to my nose or mouth. It displays a black color and a salty, graphite-laced nose packed with sweet black fruits that is reminiscent of a stellar vintage of Chateau Latour. With air, notes of molasses, burnt sugar, spices, and jammy plums emanate from the glass. Full-bodied, hugely dense, immensely rich, as well as thick, this behemoth is also amazingly balanced and harmonious. Raisins, molasses, licorice, black cherries, plums, and a distinctive note of violets are found in its complex, seamless character. Its interminable finish reveals additional notes of chocolate, kirsch, red as well as black currants, dark cherries, and rose blossoms. Armed with exceptional power, depth, and purity, this Taylor will proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with the finest ever crafted by the Fladgate Partnership. - Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate

Inky purple in color, this youngest Taylor vintage Port boasts a floral, wonderfully open and appealing bouquet, backed by layers of rich fruit. What makes this wine extra special is the seductive texture—somewhere between creamy and syrupy—and ample length. - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast

Dark, luscious crimson. Some development at the rim. Very married, integrated nose. Super luscious - really quite different from the usual Taylor – so concentrated and luscious and polished you could almost enjoy it tonight! Just a tad of tar and liquorice on the end but almost irresistible now!! Just a bit of fine tannin on the end. Drink 2015-2050. - Jancis Robinson

This is really hitting its stride now, with a furl of caressing black currant and plum reduction flavors leading the way, flanked by singed alder, walnut, ganache and sweet tobacco notes. Offers nice underlying tension too, thanks to fresh acidity that ripples throughout. The long finish shows terrific drive. Mouthwatering and hard to lay off now, but this still has room to grow. Drink now through 2045. 13,000 cases made, 300 cases imported. - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator
